When to call S&S
- Visible buildup on accessible coil surfaces
- Cooling performance that has changed
- A maintenance visit identifying dirty coils
- Ice or airflow concerns requiring diagnosis
Understand the cause and the scope
The indoor evaporator and outdoor condenser do different jobs and have different access needs. We assess the buildup and condition before recommending cleaning. Cleaning a coil does not repair a refrigerant leak, a damaged blower, or a failed electrical component. Those findings need their own scope.
Make a confident decision
Ask whether the quote includes access work, cleaning materials, and reassembly. Avoid pressure washing delicate fins or applying an unknown cleaner. Tell us about prior treatments or damage so the cleaning method can account for them.
Identify which coil and what kind of cleaning
Ask whether the concern is at the indoor evaporator coil or the outdoor condenser coil. The location, cabinet access, condition, and equipment instructions affect how work is performed. A description such as “coil cleaning” should identify the actual component and the area being addressed.
Photographs or an explanation of the observed buildup can make the recommendation easier to assess. ENERGY STAR notes that dirty coils can impair cooling and increase running time. That supports checking coil condition, but it does not mean that every cooling problem is solved by cleaning.

Compare cleaning scope before comparing price
Clarify whether the proposed work involves accessible-surface cleaning, additional disassembly, or removal of a component. Ask what protects nearby surfaces, what reassembly is included, and whether any identified damage or leak needs a separate repair. Do not assume every cleaning quote describes the same access or method.
Afterward, retain the findings and ask what contributed to the condition: filter fit, care intervals, accessible debris, or another issue identified during the visit. If the coil has already been treated with a chemical, tell the technician what was used. Leave internal access and chemical selection to the equipment-specific scope.
- Which coil and surfaces are included?
- What access, disassembly, and reassembly are included?
- What damage or other condition remains outside cleaning?
- What follow-up care is recommended for this equipment?
Your questions, answered
How often should coils be cleaned?
Use the equipment instructions and actual condition. Have them assessed during maintenance rather than buying a cleaning solely because a fixed number of months has passed.
How do I arrange a visit?
Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.
How does S&S stand behind the work?
Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.
Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.
