Refrigerant leak diagnosis & repair

Adding refrigerant to a known leak is a temporary measure. S&S helps you understand where a leak is found, what repair is practical, and the cost of restoring operation.

When to call S&S

  • A previous low-refrigerant diagnosis
  • Repeated refrigerant additions
  • Cooling loss or ice that needs evaluation
  • An estimate for a leaking coil

Understand the cause and the scope

Low performance alone does not prove a leak. Airflow and other operating conditions must be considered. Once a leak is confirmed, the location and component condition guide the repair options. The refrigerant type must match the equipment; different refrigerants are not interchangeable.

Make a confident decision

Ask what leak detection, repair, testing, and refrigerant are included. For an older system, compare the repair with replacement instead of assuming repeated additions are the least expensive long-term path. Keep previous invoices so the history is available.

Keep leak detection, leak repair, and recharge distinct

Ask what has been established so far. A low-refrigerant finding, a located leak, a repaired component, and restored operation are different points in the process. The proposal should explain which stage is included and what happens if detection identifies a component that needs a separate repair decision.

If refrigerant has been added before, keep the dates and invoices available. Repeated additions are useful history when evaluating the next step. Ask for the component or location found, the repair proposed, and how the result will be checked under the approved scope.

Make the repair fit the actual equipment

Record the equipment’s model information and refrigerant designation when they are safely available. Ask how the proposed materials and component match the system and what costs are included. Do not assume that a name mentioned in another estimate is an interchangeable substitute for your equipment’s refrigerant.

EPA describes certification requirements for work that opens or can release refrigerant from the circuit. Leave that work to qualified personnel. Your useful role is to provide the repair history, understand the scope, and retain the final documentation—not attach gauges or attempt a recharge.

  • Detection scope and the next approval point
  • Located component and proposed correction
  • Testing, refrigerant, materials, and labor included
  • Parts coverage and any costs outside it

Your questions, answered

Is refrigerant included in the parts warranty?

Not necessarily. Manufacturer parts coverage usually differs from labor and refrigerant coverage. Your equipment warranty and S&S’s written terms control.

How do I arrange a visit?

Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.

How does S&S stand behind the work?

Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.

Protect your factory warranty.

Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.

S&S replaced the entire HVAC system in my house last week. They were honest, communicative, and ON TIME. Nobody enjoys replacing their system in general, but the experience with S&S was quite refreshing, especially compared to the other more well known companies in town.

Had the best experience with these guys. Our ac went out yesterday evening and thought we had to go stay somewhere for a few days until it got fixed. But i was wrong. S & S HVAC came out within hours with a newer unit and replaced it within a few hours. I 100% recommend these guys they have the best customer service and same day service night or day!

Our air conditioner unit stopped working on a Sunday evening during a holiday weekend, they still came out quickly and got everything taken care of! They are honest, professional, responsive and truly care! Its hard to find companies willing to go above & beyond!

Many thanks to S&S for their quick response and repair of our central AC unit. The replacement was done quickly and professionally. He explained what was going on throughout the process and also took the time to let us know what to watch for moving forward to help keep our AC running properly. They were very reasonably priced, and with the cost of everything these days, you want someone who truly has your best interest in mind. I would highly recommend giving them a shot. They will definitely be the company I use moving forward.

From the first phone call I was impressed with the friendly customer service and clear up front pricing and availability. Scheduled an appointment for 2 days later for preventative maintenance and the tech showed up on time and even though my phone was not working and I couldn't confirm his 7am arrival he still showed up and completed everything and explained and answered all my questions. Very polite and neat. Cleaned and serviced my ac inside and out and has it running more efficiently now.

Yall when I say Gary did not disappoint, we have been having issues with our AC, we finally got to point where ac went completely out- so 2 days no air in 80 degree temperatures, and when I say he came in and got the job done in no time! QUICKEST fix I've experienced, very professional!

Called S&S HVAC AT 8am had a Tech here around 9am. Gary was very polite and knowledgeable, went right to work checking my A/C. Oh, by the way it was raining lightly, Gary didn't mind, he said as long as there wasn't any lightning. Went in the Attic to check main A/C and then went to outside to condensor and found problem, bad capacitor. Put new part and checked entire system and check all vents for temp.
