When to call S&S
- The displayed temperature seems wrong
- The system does not respond to settings
- Schedules or modes are confusing
- You want to explore connected controls
Understand the cause and the scope
A control issue can originate in the thermostat, its location, the wiring, or the equipment it operates. Heat pumps and multi-stage systems require appropriate configuration. We check compatibility before recommending a replacement.
Make a confident decision
Tell us which features matter: simple operation, scheduling, remote access, or temperature consistency. Ask about Wi-Fi requirements, power needs, and setup. A thermostat upgrade cannot correct an undersized duct or a mechanical failure elsewhere in the system.
Choose useful controls for the equipment you own
Start with the features you will actually use: easy temperature changes, a weekly schedule, remote access, or information about operation. Then ask whether the proposed thermostat works with the equipment, staging, accessories, and wiring in your home. Keep the existing control’s model information if you have it.
ENERGY STAR smart-thermostat criteria include scheduling, operating feedback, and basic thermostat function without connectivity to the service provider. Those are useful questions to ask about any candidate product; the exact features and setup still depend on the selected model.
Separate a control problem from a system problem
Explain whether the issue is the displayed temperature, an unwanted schedule, a lost connection, or equipment that does not respond. Record when it happens and whether anyone recently changed settings. If the home is uncomfortable despite the system following the thermostat’s command, describe that difference too.
After installation or repair, ask for a demonstration of the normal modes, schedule changes, overrides, and any auxiliary-heat settings that apply. Keep account ownership and recovery information under your control. A convenient app is most useful when everyone in the household understands the basic operation.

- Normal operation during Wi-Fi interruption
- Schedule, override, and homeowner account setup
- Included orientation and available product support
Your questions, answered
Will a smart thermostat guarantee lower bills?
No. Results depend on operation, the home, equipment, weather, and utility rates. Choose controls for useful features and compatible operation rather than a guaranteed dollar saving.
How do I arrange a visit?
Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.
How does S&S stand behind the work?
Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.
Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.
