When to call S&S
- A filter that does not fit securely
- Dust bypassing the filter
- Uncertainty about the correct replacement
- A change in airflow after installing a different filter
Understand the cause and the scope
Filter dimensions, cabinet fit, and airflow resistance matter. A higher rating is not automatically suitable for every system. We consider the equipment before recommending a change in filtration. A dirty filter may contribute to poor airflow, but other causes may also need diagnosis.
Make a confident decision
Read the equipment instructions, keep spare filters of the correct type, and inspect them regularly. Household conditions and use affect how quickly a filter loads. Do not operate without a required filter while waiting for a replacement.
Identify every filter location before buying replacements
Homes can have more than one system or more than one filter location. Ask which locations belong to your equipment and record the specified size and type for each. A package dimension that looks close is not a substitute for a filter that fits the cabinet correctly.
Bring the current filter packaging or a photo of its label to the discussion. Explain any recent change in filter type, noise, or airflow. If the filter does not seat securely or the replacement is difficult to install, ask about the fit before continuing with the same product.
Match filtration goals to the system
EPA explains that HVAC filtration can supplement source control and ventilation but cannot remove every pollutant. Begin with the concern you want improved and ask whether the proposed filter is suitable for your equipment. A larger claim on the package is not the complete selection process.
Keep a simple record of when each filter was checked and changed. Follow the equipment and filter instructions, adjusting attention to observed condition rather than assuming all homes load a filter at the same rate. Ask about separate material costs and the correct direction of installation.
- Each filter location, size, and specified type
- Cabinet fit and compatible airflow
- What the selected filter is intended to address
- Inspection/replacement instructions and material cost
Your questions, answered
Is filter replacement included in club dues?
The club’s terms exclude filters and other listed materials. Ask about the correct filter and any separate material cost.
How do I arrange a visit?
Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.
How does S&S stand behind the work?
Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.
Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.
