Heating system maintenance

Your maintenance plan should match your heating equipment. Heat pumps, electric heat, and gas furnaces have different operating needs, and the visit should reflect the system in your home.

When to call S&S

  • Seasonal preparation
  • A heat pump using auxiliary heat unexpectedly
  • Uneven warmth or airflow
  • Missing maintenance documentation

Understand the cause and the scope

We start with the equipment type and your observations, then assess the applicable controls and components. Heating and cooling share parts of the air-distribution system, so airflow concerns should not be ignored just because the season changed.

Make a confident decision

Ask which checks apply to your system, which findings need repair, and when the next visit should occur. S&S recommends twice-yearly professional maintenance; your manufacturer’s instructions and written warranty remain the authority for required care.

Identify the heating equipment before choosing the visit

A thermostat’s heat setting does not identify all the equipment involved. Tell the office whether you have a heat pump, a gas furnace, electric heat, or an arrangement you are unsure about. Model information or a photo of the accessible equipment label can help confirm the request.

Explain whether the concern occurs at startup, after extended use, or when changing modes. If you have a heat pump, mention any unexpected auxiliary-heat indication. The appropriate maintenance scope should follow the equipment and its operating needs.

Coordinate heating care with the shared parts of the system

Filters, controls, and air distribution may serve both heating and cooling. Bring recurring airflow or room-balance concerns into the heating visit rather than assuming they belong only to summer. Ask which issue can be addressed during routine care and which needs a separate diagnosis or project.

Use a simple record with the visit date, system serviced, findings, approved work, and outstanding recommendations. Keep it with the manufacturer’s instructions and warranty documents. If the home has more than one system, identify each clearly so one maintenance record is not mistaken for care of every unit.

  • System type and the spaces it serves
  • Heating-mode symptoms or previous findings
  • Shared airflow and control concerns
  • A separate, identifiable record for each system

Your questions, answered

Can I wait until the first cold day?

You can request a visit whenever you have a concern. Planning ahead gives you more opportunity to address findings before demand rises.

How do I arrange a visit?

Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.

How does S&S stand behind the work?

Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.

Protect your factory warranty.

Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.

S&S replaced the entire HVAC system in my house last week. They were honest, communicative, and ON TIME. Nobody enjoys replacing their system in general, but the experience with S&S was quite refreshing, especially compared to the other more well known companies in town.

Had the best experience with these guys. Our ac went out yesterday evening and thought we had to go stay somewhere for a few days until it got fixed. But i was wrong. S & S HVAC came out within hours with a newer unit and replaced it within a few hours. I 100% recommend these guys they have the best customer service and same day service night or day!

Our air conditioner unit stopped working on a Sunday evening during a holiday weekend, they still came out quickly and got everything taken care of! They are honest, professional, responsive and truly care! Its hard to find companies willing to go above & beyond!

Many thanks to S&S for their quick response and repair of our central AC unit. The replacement was done quickly and professionally. He explained what was going on throughout the process and also took the time to let us know what to watch for moving forward to help keep our AC running properly. They were very reasonably priced, and with the cost of everything these days, you want someone who truly has your best interest in mind. I would highly recommend giving them a shot. They will definitely be the company I use moving forward.

From the first phone call I was impressed with the friendly customer service and clear up front pricing and availability. Scheduled an appointment for 2 days later for preventative maintenance and the tech showed up on time and even though my phone was not working and I couldn't confirm his 7am arrival he still showed up and completed everything and explained and answered all my questions. Very polite and neat. Cleaned and serviced my ac inside and out and has it running more efficiently now.

Yall when I say Gary did not disappoint, we have been having issues with our AC, we finally got to point where ac went completely out- so 2 days no air in 80 degree temperatures, and when I say he came in and got the job done in no time! QUICKEST fix I've experienced, very professional!

Called S&S HVAC AT 8am had a Tech here around 9am. Gary was very polite and knowledgeable, went right to work checking my A/C. Oh, by the way it was raining lightly, Gary didn't mind, he said as long as there wasn't any lightning. Went in the Attic to check main A/C and then went to outside to condensor and found problem, bad capacitor. Put new part and checked entire system and check all vents for temp.
