Duct inspection & cleaning questions

Before buying duct cleaning, understand the condition of the ducts and the problem you are trying to solve. An inspection can help distinguish dust at a grille from an issue inside the air-distribution system.

When to call S&S

  • Visible material near a register
  • Persistent dust concerns
  • Water damage affecting ducts
  • An odor you want investigated

Understand the cause and the scope

The duct material, access, moisture conditions, and type of buildup determine what work may be appropriate. Cleaning does not repair disconnected ductwork or replace damaged insulation. The available cleaning or treatment method must be confirmed for your duct material and the condition observed.

Make a confident decision

Request an assessment and a written scope before selecting a treatment or cleaning service. Ask what areas are included, what materials are proposed, and whether damaged sections need replacement. We confirm the available method for your particular system.

Ask for the condition that justifies the work

Begin with an inspection and a description of what was actually observed. Ask where the material is located, which duct type is involved, and whether physical damage or moisture is present. Photographs and a clear explanation are more useful than choosing a process from a coupon.

EPA does not recommend a universal routine-cleaning schedule and explains that dust at a register does not establish a whole-system problem. If a service is proposed, ask how the observed condition supports it and which part of the system needs attention.

Distinguish cleaning, treatment, and replacement

Have the proposal describe the method and the sections included. Ask whether damaged, wet, disconnected, or inaccessible components require different work. Cleaning material from a surface, applying a treatment, and replacing damaged ductwork are different scopes and should be compared that way.

Confirm the method S&S can provide for your particular duct construction before assuming a advertised cleaning process applies. Ask what outcome will be checked afterward and whether a moisture source or other underlying condition still needs correction. Keep any proposed chemical product information with the approved scope.

  • Observed condition and affected locations
  • Duct material and access limitations
  • Specific cleaning or treatment method
  • Repairs or replacement that remain separate
  • How findings and completed work will be documented

Your questions, answered

Should every home have routine duct cleaning?

A blanket schedule is not appropriate for every home. Start with documented conditions and the reason for the work. See our homeowner guide for EPA’s consumer guidance.

How do I arrange a visit?

Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.

How does S&S stand behind the work?

Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.

Protect your factory warranty.

Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.

S&S replaced the entire HVAC system in my house last week. They were honest, communicative, and ON TIME. Nobody enjoys replacing their system in general, but the experience with S&S was quite refreshing, especially compared to the other more well known companies in town.

Had the best experience with these guys. Our ac went out yesterday evening and thought we had to go stay somewhere for a few days until it got fixed. But i was wrong. S & S HVAC came out within hours with a newer unit and replaced it within a few hours. I 100% recommend these guys they have the best customer service and same day service night or day!

Our air conditioner unit stopped working on a Sunday evening during a holiday weekend, they still came out quickly and got everything taken care of! They are honest, professional, responsive and truly care! Its hard to find companies willing to go above & beyond!

Many thanks to S&S for their quick response and repair of our central AC unit. The replacement was done quickly and professionally. He explained what was going on throughout the process and also took the time to let us know what to watch for moving forward to help keep our AC running properly. They were very reasonably priced, and with the cost of everything these days, you want someone who truly has your best interest in mind. I would highly recommend giving them a shot. They will definitely be the company I use moving forward.

From the first phone call I was impressed with the friendly customer service and clear up front pricing and availability. Scheduled an appointment for 2 days later for preventative maintenance and the tech showed up on time and even though my phone was not working and I couldn't confirm his 7am arrival he still showed up and completed everything and explained and answered all my questions. Very polite and neat. Cleaned and serviced my ac inside and out and has it running more efficiently now.

Yall when I say Gary did not disappoint, we have been having issues with our AC, we finally got to point where ac went completely out- so 2 days no air in 80 degree temperatures, and when I say he came in and got the job done in no time! QUICKEST fix I've experienced, very professional!

Called S&S HVAC AT 8am had a Tech here around 9am. Gary was very polite and knowledgeable, went right to work checking my A/C. Oh, by the way it was raining lightly, Gary didn't mind, he said as long as there wasn't any lightning. Went in the Attic to check main A/C and then went to outside to condensor and found problem, bad capacitor. Put new part and checked entire system and check all vents for temp.
