HVAC UV-light options

A UV device needs a defined purpose, suitable placement, and ongoing maintenance. We help you evaluate compatibility with your HVAC system and understand the manufacturer’s operating requirements.

When to call S&S

  • A recommendation for a UV accessory
  • Questions about coil-area treatment
  • An existing UV device needing service
  • Uncertainty about lamp replacement

Understand the cause and the scope

Different products are intended for different applications. Placement, exposure time, shielding, and access affect the design. UV equipment must be installed and serviced according to its instructions; a lamp should not be viewed or handled as a household light.

Make a confident decision

Ask what the device is intended to do, where it will be installed, what maintenance is needed, and what the warranty covers. It does not replace normal coil care, filtration, or correction of a moisture problem.

Know which application is being proposed

Ask the installer to identify the exact product and the surface or air path it is intended to address. A coil-area device and another type of in-duct air-treatment product can have different purposes and installation instructions. The estimate should name the application rather than simply list “UV light.”

Request the manufacturer’s explanation of placement, shielding, power, service access, and maintenance. If an existing lamp is being replaced, provide its model information and installation history. Do not assume a visually similar replacement is the correct component.

Evaluate upkeep alongside the claimed benefit

Clarify the lamp or component replacement instructions, how operating status is indicated, and what future service costs are separate. Ask how the installation preserves access for normal coil, filter, and drain care. An accessory should not make ordinary maintenance harder to perform.

Use EPA’s air-cleaner overview as a starting point for product questions, then review evidence for the actual model. Ask specifically what it can and cannot accomplish. Keep installation and service within the manufacturer’s instructions; do not open a UV-equipped compartment to inspect an operating lamp.

  • Named product and intended application
  • Placement, shielding, and service access
  • Status indication and replacement instructions
  • Product evidence, limitations, and coverage

Your questions, answered

Can a UV accessory guarantee healthier air?

No. We discuss equipment function and limitations rather than promising a health outcome.

How do I arrange a visit?

Start with the scheduling page or call 337-287-2132. We confirm your address, service zone, equipment, and available appointment.

How does S&S stand behind the work?

Our standard written workmanship coverage is one year on installations and 90 days on repairs unless a different written term applies. Maintenance requirements and other conditions apply; equipment warranties are separate.

Protect your factory warranty.

Failure to maintain your unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions may void coverage under its 5- or 10-year factory parts warranty. Keep your maintenance records. The manufacturer’s written terms determine your coverage.

S&S replaced the entire HVAC system in my house last week. They were honest, communicative, and ON TIME. Nobody enjoys replacing their system in general, but the experience with S&S was quite refreshing, especially compared to the other more well known companies in town.

Had the best experience with these guys. Our ac went out yesterday evening and thought we had to go stay somewhere for a few days until it got fixed. But i was wrong. S & S HVAC came out within hours with a newer unit and replaced it within a few hours. I 100% recommend these guys they have the best customer service and same day service night or day!

Our air conditioner unit stopped working on a Sunday evening during a holiday weekend, they still came out quickly and got everything taken care of! They are honest, professional, responsive and truly care! Its hard to find companies willing to go above & beyond!

Many thanks to S&S for their quick response and repair of our central AC unit. The replacement was done quickly and professionally. He explained what was going on throughout the process and also took the time to let us know what to watch for moving forward to help keep our AC running properly. They were very reasonably priced, and with the cost of everything these days, you want someone who truly has your best interest in mind. I would highly recommend giving them a shot. They will definitely be the company I use moving forward.

From the first phone call I was impressed with the friendly customer service and clear up front pricing and availability. Scheduled an appointment for 2 days later for preventative maintenance and the tech showed up on time and even though my phone was not working and I couldn't confirm his 7am arrival he still showed up and completed everything and explained and answered all my questions. Very polite and neat. Cleaned and serviced my ac inside and out and has it running more efficiently now.

Yall when I say Gary did not disappoint, we have been having issues with our AC, we finally got to point where ac went completely out- so 2 days no air in 80 degree temperatures, and when I say he came in and got the job done in no time! QUICKEST fix I've experienced, very professional!

Called S&S HVAC AT 8am had a Tech here around 9am. Gary was very polite and knowledgeable, went right to work checking my A/C. Oh, by the way it was raining lightly, Gary didn't mind, he said as long as there wasn't any lightning. Went in the Attic to check main A/C and then went to outside to condensor and found problem, bad capacitor. Put new part and checked entire system and check all vents for temp.
