This page presents the warranty provisions from S&S’s Residential Terms and Conditions of Sale and Service, version 2.0, effective July 29, 2026. Your approved estimate, any signed change orders, and the complete Terms form your agreement. Ask S&S for a copy of the full Terms.
14. S&S Labor Warranty
14.1 S&S warrants its installation workmanship for one (1) year from the date of substantial completion on installed systems, and ninety (90) days from the date of service on repair work, unless a longer period is stated in writing on the estimate or purchased as an extended labor plan.
14.2 Within the labor warranty period, S&S will correct defects in its own workmanship at no charge for labor during normal business hours. After-hours, weekend, and holiday service calls remain billable at the applicable rate.
14.3 The labor warranty covers workmanship only. It does not cover the equipment itself, materials supplied by others, or components S&S did not install.
14.4 The labor warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner of the property only with S&S’s written consent.
14.5 Warranty service must be requested from S&S. Work performed by another contractor without S&S’s prior written authorization is not reimbursable and may void the warranty.
15. Warranty Exclusions and Conditions
No warranty, express or implied, applies to any of the following:
- Failure or damage caused by lack of maintenance, including clogged filters, dirty coils, or blocked condensate drains.
- Failure caused by electrical supply problems, including power surge, lightning, brownout, voltage imbalance, or utility interruption.
- Failure caused by flood, hurricane, wind, hail, fire, freeze, vermin, insects, or corrosive atmosphere, including salt air and chemical exposure.
- Damage caused by improper operation, tampering, unauthorized modification, or service by anyone other than S&S.
- Filters, belts, fuses, batteries, UV lamps, and other consumable or routine-replacement items.
- Refrigerant loss from a leak in a lineset, coil, or component that S&S did not install.
- Cosmetic conditions including cabinet finish, dents, scratches, discoloration, and normal operating noise.
- Any system that has been relocated after installation.
- Any claim where the account has an outstanding past-due balance. Warranty obligations are suspended while any amount remains past due.
Maintenance Requirement
Manufacturer warranties and the S&S labor warranty require documented annual professional maintenance — in the Gulf South climate, we recommend twice annually. Failure to maintain the system in accordance with manufacturer instructions may void coverage. Retain your maintenance records. Enrollment in an S&S maintenance plan satisfies this requirement.
13. Manufacturer Equipment Warranty
13.1 New equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty, which typically provides ten (10) years parts coverage when the equipment is registered with the manufacturer within the registration window. Coverage terms, duration, and conditions are set by the manufacturer, not by S&S, and the manufacturer’s written warranty document controls.
13.2 Registration. S&S will submit registration on your behalf where possible. Confirming that registration was completed is ultimately your responsibility. Unregistered equipment typically reverts to a shorter base warranty, commonly five (5) years, and S&S is not responsible for reduced coverage resulting from failed or untimely registration.
13.3 A manufacturer parts warranty covers the part only. Diagnostic labor, refrigerant, freight, and miscellaneous materials are not covered by the manufacturer and are billable unless covered under the S&S labor warranty described below.
13.4 S&S passes through, and does not enlarge, the manufacturer’s warranty. S&S is not the guarantor of any manufacturer’s obligation and is not liable if a manufacturer denies a claim, discontinues a part, or becomes insolvent.
Other related provisions
The following is a summary of additional provisions, rather than the complete agreement:
- Existing components and ductwork (Section 9): Reused components are not covered by an S&S warranty. Reusing existing ductwork carries performance and condensation limitations described in the full Terms.
- System performance (Section 10): S&S does not guarantee specific utility bills, energy savings, temperature differential, humidity, or noise unless stated in writing on the estimate. Choosing equipment contrary to S&S’s recommendation affects performance-related coverage.
- Refrigerant (Section 16): Coverage is limited to loss directly resulting from a defect in a component S&S installed, reported within the applicable warranty period. Adding refrigerant to a known leak is a temporary measure.
- Claims and liability (Section 21): The complete Terms include notice requirements and limitations of liability. Written notice describing a claim is required within one year of substantial completion, subject to the qualifications in that section.
