Discuss the heating plan as carefully as cooling

Reusing ducts or combining a heat pump with an existing furnace should be an evaluated part of the proposal.
At handover, request an explanation of the control settings and the expected use of supplemental heat. Keep the equipment manual nearby. If something later seems different, record the outdoor conditions, room temperature and thermostat display instead of repeatedly changing modes.

Confirm the certified matched-system ratings on the proposal rather than comparing an outdoor unit alone.
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit under Internal Revenue Code Section 25C is not available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Ask directly about current manufacturer or utility programs and verify their written eligibility terms.
